"May you heal so hard you do your hobbies again."

That was shared by a fellow writer I follow on Substack. It has stuck with me all week. and it seems to have really resonated with other creatives as well.

I am lucky. I have been enjoying a number of hobbies over the last few years. That wasn't always the case though.

During the early years of motherhood, especially when I was still working, taking care of infants and toddlers, and during each pregnancy, I didn't have much time for hobbies.

If I think back, I probably really started to get back into things I enjoy during the pandemic.

I started doing puzzles again (the photo below and on my Hobby Time page is of the 5,000 piece puzzle I have been working on for months). I also started listening to audiobooks at that time. I would put on a book and sit at the table working on a puzzle. It was so relaxing.

A photo of the 5.000 piece puzzle I am working on. It is of an underwater seen. Several colorful fish of varying types are completed. Loose pieces are near the top and on the side of the puzzle.

I've gotten back into reading, and last year I started using StoryGraph to track my reading. I completed seventy books last year, with an even mix of audiobooks and physical books. I adore reading!

I've also taken up new hobbies like hula hoop fitness, which is so incredibly fun!

Andi is wearing a light pink top and black pants. She is using a blue and black hula hoop, and it is currently rotating in the air in front of her as she hand hoops. There are black stage curtains behind her.

I play my daily word games, and I'm always down for a good game night or card game. I recently learned how to play Michigan Rummy and I'm obsessed with it!

My kids have wanted a family business for years, so we are in the process of getting an online shop set up. It excites my creative side but it also helps fulfill my lifelong dream of having a family business like many of my family members have had throughout my lifetime. I miss our family produce store so, so much. Our online shop will be very different, but I'm hoping it will be a fun journey for our family. Stay tuned for updates on Daggers & Daisies, opening soon!

Most recently, I've started writing. I have wanted to write for years, but I could never concentrate long enough to get my thoughts out. Through an amalgamation of hardships this summer, I decided to finally pursue this interest and I am so happy I did.

I wanted to provide some easy, relaxing options for people. That has led to the creation of a new page on this site called Hobby Time.

On there, you will find links to pages for word searches, coloring pages, my StoryGraph account for book inspiration, and my Spotify account for musical suggestions. There will also be a link to Daggers & Daisies when that is up and running.

Make sure you check back often, as I will be continuously adding new word searches and coloring pages (all created by me), as well as updated merch on Daggers & Daisies.

I hope you enjoy.

May your healing provide room for new adventures in your life.
